LEARNING FOR EMPLOYABILITY AND SUCCESS IN LIFE
In a time of rapid and constant change, learning to become educated is not just the beginning, it is also a journey that never ends. Lifelong learning can reffer to learning throughout life, to formal, non-formal and informal learning, and to fundamental learning objectives like learning for active citizenship, learning for personal development or learning for social inclusion and learning for employability.
The learner is at the heart of education, where great attention is paid to ensuring equal opportunities for learning and the appropriate quality of learning. Individuals should have the opportunity to learn at all stages of their lives, and traditional education systems should be transformed as soon as possible into more open, flexible systems, tailored to individual learning goals, needs and interests of all generations.
At the Faculty of Agriculture, we are aware that lifelong learning in agriculture is very specific and indispensable for a successful working individual, and we have decided to make it more accessible. We have therefore developed different ways of integrating lifelong learning into the process. Participants will be able to choose between modules of study programmes. The frist one consists of a group of subjects that are linked in terms of content and the participants receive a certificate for proof of education. In the second one, the participants can choose subjects from the undergraduate study programmes and also receive a certificate of completion. Various forms of non-formal education, such as seminars and workshops are also availabe, where particiapnts can receive a certificate of attendance.
To survive the demands of the labour market at a time of rapid social, economic and technological change, we need to continuously adapt our knowledge and skills to unpredictable demands. Lifelong learning is therefore no longer a matter of choice, but a necessity for everyone.
The objectives of lifelong learning at the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences are:
- to achieve integration into the economy and the environment,
- to establish a closer link between theory and practice,
- to raise the educational structure in the field of agriculture.
As the Faculty of Agriculture recognises that learning is a process that does not end with a degree, we have developed various opportunities to engage participants in lifelong learning.
Programme format/type | Description | Type of certificate |
Part of study programmes/advanced training modules | The programme consists of a group of subjects linked by content to form a module. The ECTS acquired can be used in full-time programmes. | Certificate of education – public document |
Individual courses of accredited study programmes | Participants are involved in the implementation of study programmes that the faculty runs for regularly enrolled students. The ECTS obtained may also be transferred to the regular study programmes. | Certificate of education |
Non-formal forms of education | We offer various seminars, workshops, courses, roundtables, etc. (no examination) | Certificate of attendance |
1 ECTS = 25-30 hours of lectures, tutorials and independent work to achieve the expected knowledge.
Special short courses are also available for groups of one or more companies. This allows for a greater flexibility in the organisation of the lessons (place and time). The transfer and application of knowledge is thus focused on specific areas of interest to the group.
