Modern food production demands environmentally friendy and sustainable practices, which result in quality food production. Along with automatization and reduction of physical input, the final aim is to produce healthy and safe food along the supply chain from farm to fork.<\/p><p style=\"margin-top: 13px; margin-bottom: 13px; color: #000000; font-family: Tahoma, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">FALS conducts developmental, applicable and fundamental research independently and in collaboration with study groups from other institutions. The work is carried out through research groups and numerous independent research projects, which are conducted as international, fundamental, applicable and goal oriented research, as well as research intended for direct users. Our experts regularly publish their work in international scientific journals, at scientific congresses and symposiums.\u00a0All this has strengthened FALS&#8217;s international collaborations with eminent institutions from Europe and around the globe. The staff has experience particularly in the field of food pathogens and lactic acid bacteria. Next generation DNA sequencing equipment is accesible for use through the University.<\/p><p><strong>The cell culture laboratory<\/strong>\u00a0has instruments for\u00a0<em>in vitro<\/em>\u00a0cell culture maintanance, with CO2 incubators, microscopes and -70\u00b0C freezers. A flow cytometer is accesible for use through the University.<\/p><p><strong>The chemical laboratory<\/strong>\u00a0has the equipment needed for the characterization of soil, fruit and vegetable samples prepared in field experiments.
